Among slate stones, with no more water than the rain, and fighting against the Tramuntana wind.

Wine from the Island of Menorca. The vineyards of the Sa Cudia Nova family estate yield a very small harvest, which is cared for and selected by hand to produce these unique white wines.

Wines

This Menorcan wine company is dedicated exclusively to the production of dry white wine, with its own grapes that survive the harsh combination of slate soil, lack of artificial irrigation and Tramuntana winds.

Due to its wide range of floral aromas and persistent fruity retro-olfaction, typical of the Menorcan countryside, Malvasia is the wine par excellence for stews and fish dishes.

With a clear commitment to Malvasia as the most traditional variety in the Mediterranean, Sa Cudia produces estate wines that have been widely recognized for their high quality. The family maintains a limited production of 17,000 bottles per year.

History

It began in 1999, when Dr. Andrés Martínez-Jover and his five brothers decided to lay the foundations to transform the family estate of Sa Cudia Nova into a winery. The objective was to work on a sustainable farm project, which has already received several awards for its relevance to the diversification and future of the Menorcan countryside and that was compatible with the privileged location of the property.

Vineyards

Located in the middle of the Natural Park of s’Albufera des Grau, in the middle of the Biosphere Reserve, the vineyards occupy seven hectares of the north coast of Menorca. It is a dry-farmed vineyard, where organic farming practices are applied with scrupulous respect for the natural environment.

Where the family estate of Sa Cudia Nova is located, there are many days a year of Tramuntana winds of up to 100 km/hour, so the Malvasia is trained both in goblet and low trellis Corso style, with a first wire of only 35 cm. high.
