Menorca’s wine producers want to create a PGI Regulatory Council

The Menorcan wine sector is determined to take one more step in the promotion of its product, and for this reason last May 11 they approved in assembly the firm commitment to promote the creation of a Regulatory Council of the Protected Geographical Indication Island of Menorca Wine of the Terra Illa de Menorca which will be aimed at supporting the prestige of local wine.

This initiative, which had already been marked on his roadmap by the current president, Cesar Palomino , when he began his mandate in May 2022, will begin this year with the commitment and support of the Insular Council of Menorca “Our organization has a responsibility towards the present and future of the countryside , food and the model of rural tourism that Menorca projects and that is why, as a result of this responsibility, our will is born” explains the president of the Menorca Wine Association. The entity is committed to Menorcan society and empowered to take the place it deserves.

As a result of this reflection and aware as winemakers are of the growing interest in their product and its undoubted quality, they want to multiply their activity and presence with an increase in the budget allocated to promotion in the coming years.

In this sense, communication campaigns will be promoted and new contacts will be opened with the administration to be able to achieve synergies in the promotion of the local product, also taking the opportunity to promote training actions to recognize the wine sector as a profession of the future among the young ones “Viticulture is not an activity that has just appeared, but already has long been a part of the Menorcan countryside, is respectful of its environment and generate wealth in addition to stable work throughout the year and added value to guarantee their future” adds the president of Vi Menorca.
