A chardonnay fermented in French oak casks and worked on the lees for nine months in the same cask, aged for a further nine months in the bottle that comes from the oldest fence of the winery and reconfirms its leadership with 94 points, the highest score achieved by a white from the Balearic Islands.

Since 2019, Binifadet has managed to be rated by the tasters of Peñín as the best white, but it also does it this time with Tanca 13, ranked as the best rosé in the Balearic Islands with 93 points . A triple that for the owner of the winery, Lluís Anglès, is great news and a recognition of the work they have been doing in the vineyard for some time. “When you make wine you are thinking about what the result will be, but this is not an exact science and it is clear that it does not happen overnight when you see that year after year you are being valued like this. We are really very happy to see that they are all above 90 points,” explained Anglès.

The Peñín Guide has also highlighted high scores for other wines from the Sant Lluís winery, in this case 93 points for a red wine such as 2 Closes 2020, made from a blend of syrah and merlot from the youngest and oldest vines on the estate or the skins, with 92 points, a wine made with film maceration following a method inspired by village wines that today are known as the so-called orange wines, where before pressing the white grapes, they leave them in their skins and seeds in a tank for two days as if they were going to make a red wine. Binifadet Blanc has also achieved 91 points in the white category. “The more points a wine gets means it is more complex but easier to drink“, highlights English.

Another of the Menorcan wineries that also stands out above the 90 points in this latest edition of the Guía Peñín that has recently become known is the Torralbenc Cupatge Blanc of the sauvignon blanc, viognier, parellada and malvasia varieties, with 91 points. Other Torralbenc wines that have also obtained good scores in this new edition are the single-varietal Merlot and the Rosat with 89 and 88 points respectively.

From Menorca, wines from the Solano de San Climent winery, such as Sa Forana 2021, have also obtained high scores, with 89 points, or the 600 meters , both white and black, with 88. The Binitord de Ciutadella winery has obtained 89 points for its Binitord Blanc, 87 points for the Ciutat de Parella 2018 and 85 for the Binitord Rosat.

In short, Menorcan wines continue to stand out in the way of quality, leaving behind their role as a souvenir product and gaining market recognition.

One of the wine manuals most consulted by fans and professionals in the wine sector on a national scale, the well-known Guide Peñín, has announced its latest scores, again highlighting the Close 12 of the Binifadet winery de Sant Lluis as the best white wine of the Balearic Islands.
